Dr. Lourenco Lei, also known as Lawrence socially, was born in Macau, which at the time was a Portuguese Colony; hence as his wife puts it that he has acquired the rather fancy European names. He moved to Hong Kong as a toddler with his family and took schooling in Hong Kong. After finishing high school, he went abroad to study in a boarding school, Rockwell College, in Ireland. The long journey of becoming a doctor started to take shape in the Green Isle. After one year in boarding school, he was accepted in The New University of Ulster, Northern Ireland, where he got his Bachelor of Science degree. Dr. Lei then spent his medical school years in the University of Cork, National University of Ireland where he got his MB BCh BAO degree. In Sept. 1995, after Dr. Lei successfully finished the three years GP training in U.K., he accepted a job offer in Fort St. John in northern BC. Dr. Lei moved there with his wife and worked as family doctor, as well as being on call in the Emergency department and managed his patients in the FSJ General Hospital. He also assisted surgeries, as well as doing obstetrics for his patents. Together with his wife, they enjoyed the seven years up in the North and their lovely daughter was born in FSJ.
In 2002, Dr. Lei brought his wife and daughter to reside in the South Surrey area. Dr. Lei has since worked in the Peninsula for over 10 years and he enjoys seeing his regular patients with chronic disease as well as seeing and managing patients who come in as walk-in patients, suffering from acute injuries and illnesses. In his past time, he enjoys working out in the gym and also taking his family for skiing vacations in the winter and lots of cycling vacations in the summer time. He also loves music and is known to be very friendly with great sense of humor. Dr. Lei is fluent in both English and Cantonese; he also understands and speaks a little bit of Mandarin.
